Long time no see

So apparently as you can see I have been slacking off on my blogging. Oops. I will try to get everything back on track for ya'll just bear with me. See you guys in a day or so.

Long time no see....

So I have been here for two weeks and what an interesting 2 weeks it has been.

First there was Check-In. And then I had a few days off because I did not need to go to Traditions. So instead I went to Typhoon Lagoon with Courtney. Because that is what I do.

Then training started 5 days of being reminded how to do my job. Not bad. They actually said they would pull me from my last 3 days of training, but they didn't have a place to schedule me so I could stay if I wanted the hours. Um, yes please.

Since then it has been just work and days off.

We have also had roommate drama. Ugh. Started off with a grease fire that scorched an entire wall and countertop. Then ended yesterday with her moving out. End of that story.

Today I am heading into work. Yay! Hanging out with Pooh and Tigger for a few hours.

Tomorrow I have a CP focus group at Vista Way, probably going to one of the Water Parks for a bit, run a few errands and then pick my husband up at the airport. =)

I will add some pictures later.

I'm Here!

I am here, checked in and have a place to live. More to come later. =)

So....

Apparently in 10 days I am checking in for my College Program. Holy Shit! Really?!?!?! That doesn't seem possible, wasn't it just the other day that I was interviewing for my position? That also means that I leave in 6 days and need to get the last of my stuff packed (or at least what I can for this move, and more packed for the January move)

I cannot believe that time has gone this quickly. It seems like just the other day my husband was starting his new job and we were discussing if my moving to Florida would be a good thing or if I should start looking for a full time job around here. I am pretty confident that we have made the right decision for us, even though a bunch of people think I am nuts. But Chris is already gone during the week for work and is just home on Saturdays (if we are lucky) so really the on difference is the place he flies home to. Illinois or Florida. Either was as long as we are together we know that we are doing what is right for us.

I am also working on putting together my list of what I have packed for sure that is going down with me. Alot has changed since my first list, but looking at what I have been thinking about taking and the size of my car some changes have needed to be made. Plus I need to have room for my brother and his fiance to fit in the car plus their one suitcase.

We have an awesome surprise set up for them once we get into Orlando. But I am not going to post it here on the off chance that they inadvertently find my blog between now and then. Because if this surprise gets ruined I will be mad at whoever blows it and sad cuz I am not good at keeping these things in. :)

But on that note it is time for me to head back to taking care of these things. Hope everyone has a wonderful evening. It may be a few days until I get a chance to update but I am sure you guys will forgive me.

Getting Closer and Closer.....

The days just keep ticking by quicker and quicker. With my luck the 25th will get here and I won't have anything done (or at least feel like I have nothing done)

Yesterday my husband and I picked up our Keurig which made me smile. I love it just due to the fact that I can make one cup of coffee at a time and it doesn't have to be the same cup for everyone who uses the machine. Plus I can make tea and hot chocolate on it. What more can a girl ask for? Oh yea, for it to be on sale. lol It was already marked down, plus Kohl's was having one of their early bird sales so we got an additional 10% off and then they emailed me a 20% off coupon so in total I got 30% off the sale price that was already $20 less than the original. No complaints here. :) I love it when coupons work out for me.

This week I am going to concentrate and packing the clothes that I won't need for the next few weeks and also looking for my blue pass. Apparently if you are going to try and get people in the parks it helps to have your blue pass. Who woulda guessed? ;-)

Plus I need to make sure I have clothes for the weekend that I am going to be spending with my brother, his fiancee, and my husband before I check in to the program. It's been a few years since his fiancee has been to the parks and its been 13 years since my brother set foot in the parks. The closest to him being in the parks since then was 5 years ago when he drove with me down for my first program. We went down to Downtown Disney because that was about all we could do. I wasn't cool enough to have my tickets or discounts yet, so I am making up for it this trip. =) I am excited though. He hasn't been to Animal Kingdom and now he enjoys riding roller coasters so there are so many more things that we can do that he wasn't able to do 13 years ago.

I am still working on making my final list of things that need to go with me, beyond the obvious. I am debating on my Cricut. It is an awesome little machine that I can use to cut things out with. If it goes with me my sister's Mickey cartridge is going and my Tinker Bell cartridge is going to go also. I am not quite sure what I can really use it for because I don't know how much free time for scrapbooking I am going to have, but I know that if I leave it at home I will think of things that I could have used it for. So I figure I would rather have it and not need it, then want to use it and not have it. Nothing more frustrating than that.

I also just realized that I only have 2 more shifts left at Old Navy and only 2 1/2 more weeks left at my college bookstore and then I am done. It feels weird to say that. I have been with Old Navy off and on for 8 years and at the college for 2 years. So it's like leaving more of my family behind, just a weird feeling.

But on that note. I need to stop rambling and get to working on what I said I would.

This entries picture is from my best friend Courtney's wedding in Nov 2008. She was one of my bridesmaids in my wedding and we were able to time our honeymoon around her wedding so I could share her day with her. =)

Packing.......Oh So Much Fun!

Right...... I am sure everyone of you can hear the sarcasm!

So far I feel as though I have nothing packed. Even though I look around and see boxes of stuff!!!

Pretty much as of right now I have the majority of my DVDs that are going with me packed, my bedding, my swim stuff, my towels, and my hoodies packed. Beyond that I don't have much else done. I have some stuff put back in their original boxes but those boxes now need to be packed. lol Otherwise I will just be carrying a bunch of smaller boxes into my apartment. Which might end up being what happens. Here in a few weeks I will be able to start packing my clothes, but until then I get to feel really really unorganized and unpacked. Ugh.

I did dig out my bag of name tags that is going to go with me. Since I have a really bad habit of forgetting my name tag I have managed to acquire a few that I can use in the case of emergencies! So that is one thing that needs to be packed.

So far though I have also have been given a small stick vacuum for my apartment (because I am too lazy to go to the front desk to borrow one), bought a light that can either go in my bedroom or in the living room that has a reading lamp on it so I can just use that to read and hopefully not disturb anybody (too much), a blender that has a spigot on it so you can dispense the drink without taking the blender off of the base, a small George Foreman grill, my Mickey Mouse trash can and a small tumbler for the bathroom, my laundry hamper, and I made a really cool memo board for my bedroom. I am also bringing a toaster oven with me because I love toast and that is one thing that doesn't come with the apartment. Something else I recommend is a Brita water pitcher (or Pur) because the water in Florida has a sulfur taste to it and can be gross (especially if you are not used to it) I know I am probably missing some things that I have already picked up, but I will be posting an updated list here in the next few days, once I make a complete inventory of what I have and what I need.

But on that note I am going to stop rambling on. And I will leave you with another picture of something to look forward to in September and October at Walt Disney World. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. I love going to these when I can. They are so much fun, and some of the characters are dressed up in Halloween costumes. Plus it is one of the few times you get to see Snow White with all seven of the Dwarfs and one of the few times you can get pictures with the Villians.

Haunted Mansion Pet Cemetary
This is the Pet Cemetery at the end of Haunted Mansion and how it looks during the Halloween parties!!!

24 days til I leave for Florida and 28 days until I check in.

Until next time,

Sharon

Things to do in Florida

So not only is this going to be a blog that people can keep up with me and everything that I am doing, but my roommate (TinkerJenn) and I are going to try track down all of the Hidden Mickey's and the pressed coin machines and blog about them as we go. So it'll be a double whammy. Who knows, you might even get some vlogs out of us in the process. And of course my Travel Stitch will be with me the whole way!!

Getting close.....

I can't believe that we are down past the 40 day mark. That just means we are getting closer. :) There are about 5 weeks until I arrive for check in. Yay.

Guess that means I better get to packing! I have started to pack some stuff but its mostly stuff that will be getting moved in January when my husband joins me in Florida on a full time basis. Some of my stuff is little bit harder to pack right now because I really don't have the room to store it at this present time. I need to get my lazy butt up and go through some boxes in the garage and dump stuff out of them and that may free up some room for me to pack more stuff.

On a more random note Disney has gone to requiring us to have renters insurance. Which in all honestly I was planning on getting anyways. Thankfully mine will not be to expensive and it will cover me in Florida and my husband while he is on the road with his job. So it's killing 2 birds with 1 stone. And it takes the worry off of my mind of what do I do if something happens to my stuff. I understand that people are upset about this coming up at the last minute but whining about it isn't going to make it go away. I'd rather pay my little bit of money a month every month than something happen and I have to find a way to replace my laptop, my clothes, my digital camera, my pictures and all of my stuff out of my own pocket. Between my laptop and my camera that's close to $1500.

But I am now going to step off my soap box before people push me off of it. =)

And I am also going to get back to my attempts at packing.

Start of the Busy

Started in on my clinicals today. Had to be at the hospital at 630am. Ugh. Too damn early. But I better get used to it. All of my Ambulance time is going to start at 630 or 730am. I got 2 of my skills done today, I have to do another day in surgery to get the other 3 and then I am cleared of Surgery time.

Next week I get to hang out in ICU for two days and then spend two days on the back of a bambulance. And Wednesday I get to go get a new Social Security card since I was stupid and accidentally laminated it. I didn't realize that you couldn't laminate it. And I need one for Disney, I have yet to figure out why, it's not like anything has changed since 2 years ago when my name changed and Disney got a copy of the card then. Who knows.

Speaking of Disney. My roommate and I have picked out what our bathroom is going to look like. Mickey Mouse. Obvious right? lol But I am excited because that means we are getting closer to moving. =)

My clinicals are going to keep me busy for the next few weeks so I won't be able to focus on waiting. Thankfully. It is just going to make packing to move a little bit harder. Oh well. I am over it. At least I already have a list to help me pack so as I start to pack I can start crossing things off the list.

But on that note, one thing to cross of my list tonight. Laundry. Or at least attempting to work on it. Have a good one folks.

Sword in the Stone. Stays in the stone
One of these days I will get this damn sword out of the stone.

Beginning of Summer

Well summer school has officially started. So now I get to bust my butt to get my clinicals done in time to finish before I move to Florida. I start this Wednesday at the CRACK of dawn (630am) with my surgical rotation. Hopefully I do better than when I spent time in there in nursing school. I attempted to pass out because I got really really warm. So here's to hoping. Here's also to hoping that I get all of my skills done that I need done. Then I just need to get my ICU and bambulance time and I will be good to go.

At the same time I am going to start getting stuff ready to go for Florida. So I hafta go through stuff and pack for Florida, pack for us moving to Florida in Dec/Jan so Chris won't have to mess with it, and then get rid of stuff that I don't need. So I am going to have a busy couple of weeks coming up.

Oh man, my summer is going to be busy. Oh well. That way I cannot focus on the waiting part of the game.

I know this one is a short one. But I am falling asleep sitting here. G'night folks.

just testing a video post

Eventually I will be vlogging but I figured now would be the time to learn how to post videos.

Wish I was at Star Wars Weekends this year.

Insert witty title here.....

So I was sitting here trying to figure out what to blog about and nothing was popping up. Then I got to thinking I have to back to school on Monday. How exciting right?

Nope, not so much. I have a test waiting for me. Yay for being in Paramedic school and having the same book since day 1. That means that we can have a test at any point. Which means one greeting me at the beginning of the summer. Plus I get to start doing all of my ride time. And will pretty much be living on the back of an ambulance. Definitely good practice if I do end up finding a medic job in Florida that isn't with Disney.

Plus I have a PE class this summer. I just needed a single credit hour class to round out my schedule for the summer. So I went with PE. The way I look at it is that it will help me in the long run with my training for my 5K this fall and the half marathon next Feb.

Only 87ish more days until I am checking in at Vista Way with my roommate. (Which I am very excited that we are matched in the computer system so that is one less stress on my mind leading up to the program)

I have started looking around at the stuff that I need for the apartment, like sheets and what not. I will be ordering all of that prolly mid-July to make sure it gets here in time.

And then the beginning of August will be when it is time to start packing and get everything ready to move. And then it will be time to pack up the car, pick up my little brother and head to Florida. I cannot friggin wait.

And now that I have been rambling I am going to log off. lol I will leave you with yet another picture.

Thursday, May 20, 2010

Well.....

The Fall Advantage kids started checking in today. Which means that I am getting closer to checking in also. It also reminded me about the stuff that I need to get done before I move. (like fill out my on-boarding paperwork. which makes no sense to me since I have been with the company for going on 5 years. and I hafta get a new social security card. ugh)

I just looked at my countdown and it says 101 days. Which really amuses me because if an attraction goes 101 at the world it is not a good thing. In fact it causes the guests to get upset. 101 is the code for a ride being down. So once I get past the 101 days I will be good. lol That also means that I am getting closer to 99 days which means the Double Digits and that puts me even closer to the single digits which by proxy puts me closer to being there. Yep I am a nerd. Oh well.

On to cooler news. This past weekend I graduated and got to go to Chicago with my best friend and husband. It was an awesome feeling to know that I could finally walk across that stage and get my cool as hell EMPTY diploma holder. I will get my diploma 60-90 days after I finish my graduation requirements. So sometime this fall since I have a summer class that I need to finish up. =) Chicago was awesome. There are pics on my facebook. Go look if ya want.

But on that note it is time for this girl to get some sleep. I have stuff that needs to get done tomorrow since it is my last free day for a few days.

After the interview
Ready for my work weekend with the mouse. Getting a much deserved drink after my interview for the college program.

Getting Closer

Well I turned in my last final yesterday. Got a B in my class. So 4 Paramedic semesters down just my summer one to go. =) Yay!

I will be leaving here in a few to go up to Bloomington to pick up one of my bestest friends Courtney. She's coming to visit because I graduate tomorrow. And then we are going to spend Saturday and Sunday up in Chicago! I am sooooooooooo excited for that because she has never been to Chicago and I have only been once and that's been like 8ish years ago.

Bought my first NEW thing for the college program. It's one of those weekly To Do lists that can hang on the fridge but it is PERFECT to keep track of schedules on. How clever am I? lol A dork I know.

Nothing else to exciting is going on. Jenn graduates this weekend to. yay! But again other than that nothing to awful exciting.

But I need to go finish my laundry for the weekend. Talk to ya'll soon. (109 days, getting closer to the double digits.)

Have you heard the best kept Disney secret?

"Have you heard the best kept Disney secret?" (I can put these stickers on my sister's backpack walking in Frontierland and she doesn't know it until we hit the Tomorrowland Transit Authority 20 minutes later. heheheh)

Rambling

Something that I am good at, rambling on and on. lol

I promise though I won't be doing that.

But I am going to post some random thoughts that I have been having lately.

I am excited as hell to be moving back to Florida and going back to work at Disney. But at the same time I am sad because I won't get to see my husband every day (unless its on Skype) Right now though we are used to that unfortunately due to his job. =(

I am hoping this program is as good as my first one. But at the same time I looking forward to new experiences and know that I cannot compare the two, because they are two separate things.

I am looking forward to all the new friends that I am going to be making. (and have already made, right TinkerJenn?)

And that is all for now. It's raining again. Bleh. I have laundry to do. Bigger Bleh. And I have homework that needs to be done as well. Double Bleh.

Another picture. Gotta love that I am thinking in it. Wonder what I was thinking about.

So I Know

That it has been a while since I posted anything. But not much is going on. Been concentrating on school and work. Which thankfully has kept my attention for just a bit. I guess studying to be a Paramedic has been a good thing, between my homework and my clinical hours I don't have too much time to sit and think about Mr. Mouse. So this could be a good thing or a bad thing. I haven't decided yet. But with the semester wrapping up here soon and I have a few weeks between Spring and Summer semesters I will probably go into overdrive on the thinking and the planning aspect of all this stuff. I have compiled a list of stuff that I need/want to take to Florida, eventually I will get it put up on here. But that is all for now. I am off to go grab lunch and run to pick up some scrapbooking supplies so I can start my College Program book. =)

Spring Break is Over

Sad Face =( But at least this puts me closer to Graduation and my final summer class. Then it is back to Florida.

I cannot wait to get back to Orlando. I miss it so much.

I am starting to put together my list of stuff to pack. Which I know that I am still a few months out but if I don't make a list I will probably over pack and not have enough room in my car.

I know for sure I am taking all of my Disney DVDs and probably a few others, my TV, my wii, my clothes of course, and an extra powerstrip. I will probably be buying all of my bedding and hangers before I leave Illinois. Beyond these things though I have no clue. Anybody else know of something major I am missing???

I am sure that once I actually sit down and think about it I will remember more of it.

Next week I am going to pick up my dressy clothes for classes and Traditions (if I go through it)

Well I am going to quit rambling and get off of here. I have a take home test that I NEED to get finished before I go to class tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

I am leaving ya'll with a picture from my most recent shift with Lilo & Stitch.

Alice in Wonderland

Finally had time to go with my husband to see this movie.

I absolutely LOVED it. I love anything that Johnny Depp and Tim Burton do, but I loved this soooo much more.

And I loved that I was able to see it in 2D and didn't have to wait for it to come out on DVD. I can't do 3D for over 20 minutes. I can barely make it through some of the Disney attractions in 3D without getting a headache, over an hour of 3D would kill my head.

Anyways on another note, hopefully this weekend I will be able to pay my program fee to the Mouse and know my exact arrival date so I can start planning all of that fun stuff as well.

Off to enjoy my "Spring Break'' and maybe I will even get caught up on my homework.

Accepted

Well I interviewed on the 25th of Feb and got my email yesterday March 5th that I have been invited back to the College Program. Yay!

Now all I have to do is pay my fee and select my arrival date.

This is major deja vu for me, except instead of doing everything in October I am doing it in March. Doing Fall this time instead of Spring.

This should be interesting this time around to see how everything is going to work since I am not sure I am going to need to go through all the training again, guess I will just have to wait (some more) and see.

But just a quick update today. Got to get up and get going, I am going to do a Polar Plunge today for the Special Olympics of Central Illinois.

Have a wonderful day everybody.

First Step on a Long Journey

Well today I called and made my appointment for my phone interview with the College Program. I am just setting all of this up as a backup plan to a couple other things, but I would prefer to have something in place and not be left hanging in the end.

Amusingly enough I will be doing my interview while sitting on Disney Property. Probably in my resort room. I have to go down to work my seasonal hours and the was the soonest that they could schedule the interview. Sorta ironic isn't it?

Oh well, lol. That is all for me at this point. Not much else to say. Been through this process once before. Doubt much has changed in the pass 5 years. Oh man, has it truly been that long since I was last doing this?!?!?

On that note I am signing off.

Sharon
